Construction Safety

Construction Safety cards can be used to communicate significant threats & critical controls associated with construction, maintenance & deconstruction activities.

These are split into the following ‘suits’:

  • WORKPLACE
    • Falls from a height.
    • Falls from a height – through roof/floors.
    • Falls from a height – unstable edges.
    • Crushing or asphyxiation – collapse of trenches.
    • Struck by moving, including flying/falling, object.
    • Drowning.
    • Asphyxiation.
    • Drowning or asphyxiation.
    • Mines or other man-made or natural faults etc.
    • Exposure to fire – burning vegetation, forest or bush.
    • Contact with electricity or electrical discharge – pylons, transformers etc.
    • Lightning strikes.
    • Conflicts over overshared space & adjacent activities.
  • MATERIALS
    • Exposure to an explosion – demolition or munitions.
    • Exposure to an explosion – LPG, natural gas etc.
    • Exposure to fire – petrol, diesel etc.
    • Exposure to fire – waste paper, plastic, wood etc.
    • Exposure to, or contact with, a harmful substance – isocyanates, carbon monoxide etc.
    • Exposure to, or contact with, a harmful substance – acids, alkalis. bleach etc.
    • Exposure to, or contact with, a harmful substance – bleach etc.
    • Exposure to, or contact with, a harmful substance – Legionnaires disease, Corona Virus etc.
    • Punctures.
    • Punctures, impact or projectiles.
    • Exposure to, or contact with, a harmful substance – asbestos, silica, lead etc.
    • Exposure to, or contact with, a harmful substance – paints, treatments etc.
    • Cuts & grazes.
  • EQUIPMENT
    • Struck by moving vehicle/equipment.
    • Trapped by something collapsing/overturning – cranes etc.
    • Struck by moving, including flying/falling, object – dropped or swinging objects.
    • Falls from a height – lifts, elevators (Alimak).
    • Struck by moving, including flying/falling, object – tools etc.
    • Contact with electricity or electrical discharge – shock & arc flash.
    • Welding, Cutting & Grinding.
    • White finger.
    • Injured while handling, lifting or carrying.
    • Cuts.
    • Contact with moving machinery – entrapment.
    • Trapped by something collapsing/overturning – scaffolding, formwork etc.
    • Struck by moving, including flying/falling, object – sheeting etc blown by high winds.
  • ENVIRONMENT
    • Acts of violence.
    • Injured by an animal – wildlife, livestock, rats, snakes etc.
    • Heatstroke.
    • Hypothermia or Frostbite.
    • Exhaustion.
    • Anxiety.
    • Slips, trips or falls on same level.
    • Burns.
    • Deafness.
    • Strike against something fixed or stationary.
    • Ergonomics.
    • Injured while handling, lifting or carrying.
    • Deliberate traps etc.
